Frozen in Time - Demo

by Brad Steele

/

about

This is part of a series of demo tracks of original music. I plan to get into the studio to formalize these, but thought I'd share the demos until then.

I wrote this track during our recess when a memory of my late father showed up on social media. I realized that I now have dozens of social media contacts that are no longer with us, but their online presence lives on.

lyrics

I know a guy
Guess you could say he's a friend of mine
He isn't here tonight
Wish I could say he was doing fine
The last time he and I hung out
The things we were talking about
Had me laughing out loud

And he'll always say "hi"
When he sees you are coming in
He'll never pass you by
Without asking how you have been
He's the first one to buy you a drink
And the last one to leave
I think he'd be here if he could

What do you do with your friends when you lose them
And their status is frozen in time?
Remember the days that you spent when you were with them
And try your best not to lose your mind
Memories are all that our friends can leave behind

He's got a talent to put a tear in your eye
Or to lift up your spirit until you think you can fly
But that's not the point, he's there when you need him
I really wish you could meet him

So let's raise a glass for the ones who could not be here
Each one of us has someone that we've lost, I fear
Remember the joy that they brought
And try not to feel so distraught when they pass you on by

What do you do with your friends when you lose them
And their status is frozen in time?
Remember the days that you spent when you were with them
And try your best not to lose your mind
Memories are all that our friends can leave behind

What do you do with your friends when you lose them
And their status is frozen in time?
Remember the days that you spent when you were with them
And try your best not to lose your mind
Memories are all that our friends can leave behind
Memories are all that our friends can leave behind
